MyAlerts, University of Maryland University College’s (UMUC) emergency communication system, will automatically send you a text message to keep you informed of unexpected local and national alerts, as well as site-specific closings due to emergency situations and severe weather.
Once you register, MyAlerts delivers important emergency alerts, notifications, and updates on your:
- E-mail account (work, personal, other)
- Cell phone
- Smartphone/PDA (BlackBerry, Treo & other handhelds)
In the event of an emergency, authorized senders will use MyAlerts to notify you of real-time updates, instructions on where to go, what to do, who to contact and other important information. Alerts that apply to specific UMUC locations will be noted as such in the opening sentence of the messaging. Please note that Shady Grove and University of Maryland, College Park have their own emergency alert systems, which you are able to sign up for as well.
